Retaining many Edwardian features but totally redesigned for the modern era, this hotel offers a good combination of value and quality in the heart of St. Albans.
The hotel is located in the town centre, close to some excellent shopping, restaurants and traditional pubs. With St. Albans Abbey Cathedral, Verulamium Park and Roman Museum, Whipsnade Zoo and Gardens of the Rose close by, there is something for everyone.
This Grade II listed building was built in 1911 by Samuel Ryder, donor of golf's prestigious Ryder Cup, to house his successful seed company. With a sweeping staircase and magnificent stained glass dome, Ryder's original carved fireplace still stands in what was his private office.

By Car
From the M1:
- If travelling from the north, take junction 9.
- If travelling from the south, take junction 6.
- Follow the signs to St Albans city centre.
- The hotel is located opposite the abbey on Holywell Hill. There is on-site parking for about 10 cars, and an overflow car park is located about 5 minutes’ walk away.
From the M25
- Take junction 21a, and follow signs to St Albans city centre.
